Belas Knap Long Barrow
Belas Knap, a Neolithic chambered long barrow, is ready for you to discover on this historic trail. Nestled just below the top of a ridge called Humblebee How, you'll get stunning panoramic views of the countryside from here. The name Belas Knap, coming from Old English, basically means a beacon hill. It's a part of the Cotswold Severn Cairns, known for their unique wedge shape, dotting the landscape along the River Severn. The mound today stretches about 180 feet long, 66 feet wide at its broadest, and rises between 10 and 13 feet high. Dig a little into its history, and you'll find it was probably even bigger back in the day.
After that, drive to Cleeve Hill for a spectacular view over the whole region and Winchcombe town.
